Hell is Other People

It is appropriate that after the last day of winter being sunny and beautiful, that the first day of spring be mired in wind and icy snow. Chicago is a kind of hell to walk through, which is also appropriate when one is damning oneself for being a completely terrible person. The things we should and should not have said. Responsibilities to the other people in your life. I’d be engulfed by that cloud of snow if given the choice.

Some say that Hell is the loneliness of existing in a world without God. I imagine Hell would be similar to riding a completely cramped train forever with a mob of standing passengers who are tense and hostile and are staring you down for your spot in the car. Conversely, I think Heaven might be getting a train car to oneself and riding through the green English countryside.

In Heaven you can put your feet up.
